If you have a missing tooth or teeth, your main options to consider are:
- Accepting the gap
- Dental Bridges
- Dental Implants
- Full or Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures are a bespoke removable plate with false teeth in place of your missing teeth. The functional and aesthetic designs of modern dentures make them far more comfortable to wear.
If you opt for Partial Dentures to replace missing teeth, it is vital to have a standard of denture which helps to restore function, comfort and aesthetics. Poor quality & ill-fitting dentures can rub against your soft tissues causing ulcers and irritation. Our Dental Surgeons at ConfiDental Clinic Purley are able to offer the latest designs for Partial Dentures which are usually made from durable acrylic material. Small discrete clips or clasps are sometimes attached in specific areas of the denture aiding retention. These elements allow for a secure fit so you can eat and talk with ease.
Types of Dentures Available:
Acrylic Partial Dentures are the most cost effective type of partial denture. Both the false teeth and gum base are constructed of acrylic. The teeth are matched to the shade of your natural surrounding teeth and the base is gum shaded. Small metal clasps can be placed in discreet areas of the denture which clip onto selected existing teeth to help with retention.
Cobalt Chrome Partial Dentures have a very slim although strong metal frame. The false tooth or teeth are attached to the gum shaded acrylic. Cobalt chrome is a strong metal, therefore allowing the frame to be thin, strong and robust, preventing breakages. It also enables the design of the framework to be slimmer and thinner than alternative dentures, making it comfortable to wear and aid retention. Clasps can also be attached to the custom made prescription to further aid retention.
Valplast Flexible Partial Dentures are made of flexible material from the Nylon family. They have a gum shaded base and the false tooth/teeth are made of acrylic. Both the acrylic teeth and flexible base are matched to you natural tooth and gum shades allowing the denture to blend in. The construction of the base is very thin as the denture base is strong and supple ensuring a snug fit and allowing it to move naturally with you.
Immediate Partial Dentures are constructed prior to having a tooth or teeth extracted so the denture can be placed immediately after the procedure. Immediate Dentures are usually a temporary restorative treatment whilst the extraction site/s are healing before proceeding with other restorative treatments.
