A quick guide to becoming a patient at the Confidental Clinic, Purley.
It goes without saying that we are always happy to see new patients at our local dental clinic. This applies whether you are new to the area and wish to find a new dentist, or if you are seeking a change from your current dentist for any reason. If you haven’t seen a dentist for some time and are having a problem, we will do all that we can to get you registered and an appointment made so that we can investigate and start treatment as soon as we possibly can.
First things first though, and, before any treatment can take place, you will need to register. This can be done relatively easily and the first step is to call our practice on 020 8660 8923. You will be given an appointment at a time convenient for you and this will be for your initial consultation.
Your first consultation
We do request that new patients arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes early for their appointment as you will need to provide our receptionist with some information for our records. This will all remain confidential and is a legal requirement on our part. Once this has been done you can wait in our comfortable waiting room until you are called in to see the dentist.
Before we carry out any inspections, you will be asked a number of questions, including about your medical history and any medication you may be taking. Please do be honest when discussing this as some conditions may affect the choice of treatment in certain situations and your safety comes first! So please let us know.
Following this, the dentist will examine your teeth thoroughly whilst the dental nurse takes a record of the condition of your teeth and gums. This provides us with a picture of your oral health and will help to determine any treatment that you may need, and which to prioritise, where a number of problems are present. It is also likely that an x ray will be taken of your teeth for our records. Whilst most cases of decay etc are visible during an inspection, some problems, such as root canal infections, lie deep below the gum line and can only be seen with an x-ray.
Following your examination, we will discuss any treatments that you need to restore your teeth and a treatment plan will be put into place. Although not a replacement for a full appointment with the hygienist, we may also make some quick recommendations as to how you look after your teeth, such as adding flossing to your routine.
Restorations and further
We have a wide range of procedures available at our Purley practice which can be used to restore damaged or decaying teeth. The use of these will depend upon the situation, and, in some instances, there are different options available. For example, whilst amalgam fillings are still widely used, you may wish to consider our tooth coloured fillings instead. These provide a more aesthetically pleasing result with a similar level of strength.
Once you have had your teeth restored, and with good oral health care, you will simply be required to attend our practice approximately every six months or so for your regular check up. Going forwards, you may also wish to take advantage of some of the cosmetic dental procedures that we offer, so that you can have attractive teeth as well as healthy ones!
Your journey to better oral health starts with a phone call. You can contact us at the Confidental Clinic in Purley, by calling us on 020 8660 8923. We’ll be delighted to see you!
